After the rich reds of Christmas and the darker tones of winter, spring always feels like a breath of fresh air. Soft pinks, fresh greens, buttery yellows, lavender, and robin’s egg blue bring a sense of lightness back into our homes and gardens.
One of my favorite ways to decorate for Easter is to combine seasonal elements such as bunnies and Easter eggs with a garden-inspired color palette. The result feels festive without being overwhelming and transitions beautifully from Easter right into the spring season.
Whether you are decorating a front porch, creating a seasonal wreath, or simply adding touches of spring throughout your home, a pastel color palette creates a cheerful and welcoming atmosphere.
Start With A Garden-Inspired Easter Wreath
A wreath is often the first thing guests notice when they arrive at your home, making it the perfect place to establish your spring decorating theme.
For this design, I wanted the wreath to feel as though a bunny had wandered into a spring garden and settled in among the flowers while still being clearly visible from the road. Soft hydrangeas, wild flowers, trailing greenery, and pastel Easter eggs work together to create a look that feels whimsical yet elegant.
One of the things I love about wreath design is that no two wreaths are every exactly alike. In fact one of the biggest lessons I learned as a designer came from trying to recreate my own wreaths years ago. I spent hour upon hour placing stems in exactly the same positions, convinced that I could duplicate a complicated design perfectly.
The flowers were there. The greenery was there. The ribbon was there.
But somehow with all the details in the original, it just never felt the same.
I will add one little caveat, that the exception would be that the wreath or swag that is designed to be duplicated. Those are two different things.
Choosing a Spring Color Palette
When most people think of Easter decorating, pastels immediately come to mind. There is a reason these colors remain timeless.
- Soft pink adds warmth and romance.
- Fresh green reminds us of new growth.
- Lavender brings a touch of whimsy.
- Buttery yellow adds sunshine and cheer.
- Robin’s egg blue introduces freshness and contrast.
Together these colors create a palette that feels bright, welcoming, and unmistakably spring.
One of my favorite decorating tricks is to repeat these colors throughout a space. When the same colors appear in flowers, ribbon, wreaths, containers, and decorative accents, the entire display feels intentional.
Bring the Theme Beyond the Front Door
Once you’ve welcomed spring at your entryway, consider carrying those same colors and textures into your home. Repeating elements from your wreath creates a cohesive look and helps the space feel connected.
A mantel is the perfect place to continue the theme with soft florals, pastel accents, decorative eggs, and a few whimsical touches that celebrate the season without overwhelming the room.
Whether your style leans towards elegant or playful, a simple mantel display can bring warmth and charm to your living space while echoing the colors found in your Easter decorations.
Decorating with Garden-Inspired Color

Sometimes all it takes is one beautiful wreath or swag to inspire an entire season of decorating.
